Are you ready for RunDisney Marathon Weekend registration??

It’s ALMOST registration day!!

This either makes you so excited you want to scream, or so anxious you want to scream LOL…. Maybe a little of both.

If you’ve ever had a conversation with me, you know that running Disney races bring me the most joy.

In my family, it is a full family affair. Evie began running at RunDisney Marathon Weekend when she was 3 years old in the kids races. Not long after she graduated from kids races to the very family friendly 5K at the Princess Half Marathon Weekend with me and my mom. Now at 12 years old, she’s made the big step up to the 10k and runs a little more for time- but still allows me to take plenty of pictures along the way.

The additional thing that I love about RunDisney races is the inclusion. As someone who is always up on my soapbox about including people with other running strategies and different paces- Disney has all of that. With a minimum 16-minute mile - even my power walkers can join in on the fun.

As a coach, I am always concerned about race day logistics. I want to know my athletes can get to the start line with minimal stress (as long as that bus driver doesn’t get lost IYKYK). I want to know that their friends and family can see them at multiple places on the course and can get to the finish line to see them finish. Disney has all of that. Even my 70-year-old parents can make their way to see us finish with ease.

I have run all the races and challenges at Marathon Weekend - and I have to say I think Goofy may be my favorite challege out there.

So here’s what I’m gonna tell you about registration and your next steps:

1. Dream big, but have a back up plan. If your Dopey Challenge or Goofy Challenge is sold out - what do you want to do? Do you still want to go and which races are most important? Is the 10K your priority or the marathon?

2. Get in touch with me and let me help you book your room. 2025 marathon weekend rooms are available to be booked right now. At this point, they require a deposit - but all Disney rooms can be changed or cancelled with no fees (up until closer to the event) - so don’t worry about if you may want to change it down the line. I book all of my athletes rooms immediately so that they have the room category they prefer. This way, you are not forced to pay more for a room if you do not care about your standard view versus water view ect. To be honest - we just want to get you the quietest room possible, which is probably a garden view in a ‘non preferred’ location. ‘Preferred’ locations are super close to the pools and amenities so they can be a little bit noisier later into the evenings. I need my athletes to be able to go to bed early, so they can have a great race.

3. Make your plan. So, you registered in April for a race in January you’ve got plenty of time right?! WELL… That’s where people get into a little bit of trouble. Biggest thing I’ll tell you is this: Don’t just quit running until August. 😂 Start now. Lay out monthly mileage goals and build a really nice easy base with some longer runs on the weekends.

If you think you might need a little bit of additional help, start chatting with coaches. I know one that would love to help! 😉 If a monthly coach isn’t right for you, check out my Strategy Sessions on my ‘Services’ page. Get together with me, let’s talk through the next couple of months, and lay out a path for you to successfully make it through the summer building your mileage. Then, if you need a little more help down the road, maybe we reevaluate monthly coaching or we meet up again for another Strategy Session.

4. Don’t worry about park tickets. RunDisney has a high price tag. Pay for your race and pay your hotel deposit. As we get closer to the event, then we chat about tickets and what you may or may not need. One of the best logistics about a Disney race- there is so much to do at the resorts and so many restaurants- you never have to set foot in a park if you don’t want to. I always say the optimal time to use a park ticket is Monday after the marathon. Not only do you get amazing pictures with all of your medals, but it’s also a great way to help your legs by walking around.

So, as you can tell RunDisney checks all the boxes for me. If you’re considering running a RunDisney race, join us at Marathon Weekend. There is such a cool race vibe and environment at RunDisney races, and I would love for you to experience it. But beware, if you come run with us, you might just get hooked! 😜 RunDisney can be a little bit addicting!
